August 1, 2019 Roof Repair
Drawings
“A3”, the “Milford Street Elevation”, shows the “Approximate Roof Settlement”.
The roof has settled because the trusses were not connected well when it was built in 1950. The Architect called for the trusses to be secured to each other with four GRK screws in each intersection. A2 shows this. In A2, “sleepers” are attached to the attic trusses that will correct the settlement.
New gables are needed. Overhangs at the gable ends (east and west side) and on the other sides are also shown in A1 and in “A2-Sections”. A 12” overhang for the gable ends and a 16” overhang is at the other two sides.
A new roof is to be installed on the sleepers. Soffit, fascia, gutters and downspouts are required.
After the roof is on, new insulation is to be installed.
